I’m thinking of installing a diesel day tank on my Brewer 44. Has anyone tried this and if so how did you do it?

I’m now in the middle of installing a 12 gallon Moeller plastic fuel tank on the far ledge on the port side of the engine room. Larger would have been better but that’s the biggest that would fit. So far so good.

I finished installing a 12 gallon diesel day tank in my engine room a few weeks ago and I love it. This dramatically increases my range because it allows me to drain my main tanks dry without fear of sucking air into my engine. Plus, when I’m extremely low on fuel I can see exactly how much fuel I have left. There are several other advantages as well.
