A good article on antenna grounding and isolation from Brian on Pilgrim.
Have a look at this document. http://www.sailmail.com/grounds.htm . I
found the capacitors in an electronics surplus store (active surplus for
those in Toronto. The copper sheet is on a roll and is 12 inches wide (I
think I bought it at a metal scrap yard) ... you could use copper
eavestroughing (sp?) scrap from a jobsite as well . I tinned the edges
and soldered it together in place once I had the pieces arranged in the
aft. It is not encapsulated. SSB grounding is an art. What works for
some doesn't for others so I can only tell you what I have found to work
on Pilgrim with a 23 foot whip mounted on the stern and a long wire
strung between the main and mizzen (use only in port ... trust me).
