main seacock stuck open was created by greg gapen
We have just bought a Whitby 42 and have lots of repairs to do. My question is does anyone know the make and model of the main seacock. It is frozen open right now. Also, is there a handbook for an 82 Whitby 42?

thanks
Greg and Mel

The thru hull is a Wilcox Crittenden. If the boat is out of the water, or you want to dive and plug it, you can loosen the nuts, remove the handle and cylinder and lube everything and reassemble. If you want to just free it up, grease it via the Zerk fitting, then grab a hammer/mini sledge and tap the handle back and forth. Little by little it should free up. Check the blog for The Incredible Hull. As far as a handbook, there are manuals for the engine (Ford Lehman) and transmission posted on this site. Easiest thing to do is ask questions!
