on recent trip had fuel blockage problems. After the usual change filters change filters polish tanks it was discovered that there was a cheap piece of hose that had "ribboned " flat! Previous Owner had always used the low pressure 12V fuel assist pump when running (for 12 years!) . So changed that line to a new good one and steamed 160 KM at 7.4 KN at 3200 RPM no probelma. Then changed to main tank and whooooooooooom ---RPM immediately dropped to 2400 from 3200. then surged back to 2700 when low pressure pump turned on. So there is still a bad hose or obstruction in the main tank /lines. There should not be a need to run this low pressure assist pump except when changing filters to top up filter bowl . The engines fuel pump should be able to supply all fuel requirements. Comments

I was having the same problem on Orca, I installed a new lift pump, removed the elec.pump ,no problem since. the pump that I removed has a filter screen built in. I have changed my complete fuel system since then, mounting the racor filters, auxillary elec pump w/ pre filter on the engine room door.
Makes changing filter much easier/less mess.any spillage does not go into bilge.

All of the fuel supply problems were because of very old and weal fuel lines. They would "Ribbon out" or go flat when the fuel pump(s) were applied .

This is an update to my dated post. After watching air bubbles stream into the fuel filter bowl I decided to remove the original (to me) ridiculous "MAGNETRON" device in the fuel line . VIOLA! Damn thing had been leaking air into system-- probably for a long undetermined time. GOOD RIDDANCE TO A USLESS POS!!!
