BOWSPRIT – who makes em?
Does anyone remember a post that mentions a company that still has the jig to manufacture a bowsprit for a Whitby 42? I've searched but can't seem to find it. If not, I have the drawings so maybe somebody knows where I can have one fabricated, preferably here in the Southeast. I know the pros and cons, but I fell in love with the cutter rigged 42's, and Suli is already my boat!
Thanks in advance for the help!

Greg, Tip Top Metals makes most of the aft rail changes for Whitbys and can probably do the bow sprit. We love ours, by the way. Hannah
Greg: The company that made the bowsprits for Whitby is Tops in Quality. They still have the jigs and can make one for you. We purchased one for Natalie M and it fit like a glove. It even comes with all the hardware to install it on the boat. I would highly recommend this bowsprit. Good luck, Bob Slais

Thanks all! Hannah, do you have a picture of the "Tops" bowsprit? I'm leaning towards having them do this for me. Another thing, I got Ted Brewer to send me a full set of drawings and he included an engineering drawing for the bowsprit (and a signed sail plan as well) so I can go to
Pipewelders or another fab shop if I decide to go this way. I have been mining these websites for almost 5 years and you guys have saved me countless hours and loads of dollars -
thanks!!!! Gregg (Suli, W42 #28)

Hi Greg

I look forward to whatever you can dig up as I will be putting a bowsprit on TIH at some time in the future. If I come across anything I will post it. In the interim check out the research this guy has done on the subject. Gerry
Hi Gregg,
I had Tops in Quality out of Mich. do my bowsprit. Well done with a bow light added with was delivered to me in Texas. Price was extreamly reasonable. E-mail address is: sales@topsinquality.com. Good Luck.

Thanks John....... Re:BOWSPRIT - who makes them? 1 Year, 9 Months ago
Thanks again John Cece

Its critical that good information such as this is kept on this site (i.e. new format). I had no idea that "Tops in Quality" had a jig for the bowsprit and would have blundered around in Miami reinventing the wheel.

Regards

Gerry

Greg, We had new stern rail and bow pulpit made recently by a real artist and a true gentleman. Derek Dudinsky operates his business (his grandfather began it in the 1950's), JTR Enterprises, in Gulfport (St. Pete), FL. Since we are in Tallahassee, we did all the design work with e-mailed photos/drawings and phone conversations. We are extremely pleased with the results and his price was very reasonable. Derek is a real perfectionist. His e-mail is JTRmarine@verizon.net.

Bow Sprit update: Tops in Quality is now White Water Marine. Mike Klass there is going to quote this fab job for me. In the mean time, I purchased a set of plans from Brewer and sent the bow sprit drawings to Dan at Pipe welders in Ft Lauderdale and to Derek at JTR Enterprises in Clearwater. Pipe welders is at a show and said they will quote the job and JTR has already called me back and will build the sprit if I can take the boat down there for measurements. More later, but it is beginning to look like I may be able to get this done.
By-the-way, are there any W42s in the Tampa/Clearwater area that Derek at JTR could use to make some measurements if he gets this job?
Thanks!!!

Greg,
We have Allegria(199) in St. Pete. She has a bowsprit and Derek would be welcome to come over and look at it and take measurments.
Let me know.

Hi Dee - Thank you! I'm still waiting for quotes from Pipewelders and a company in Michigan that may already have a jig for the bow sprit - I will get back to you one way or the other when I know who will be fabricating this thing.
Thanks again for your kind offer!
Gregg
