Whitby 42 Brewer Sail Boats

We just purchased A '81 Whitby 42 (Hull # 177 I think). It is on the hard in Florida. During the survey the spreaders showed alot of fore and aft movement when the uppers where moved. The best way I can describe it is they were loose and the end of the spreader moved several inches for and aft. I am unfamiliar with the spreader base and how they are attached to the mast. We start the refit in a month and am making a project list, taking the mast out is part of the plan and I am curious what I might find.

Thanks too all for this great resource, It would be really nice to combine the Yahoo group posts and these into one place, but I understand the concerns of those with limited internet access. They are where we all want to be someday.
