TOPIC: Isomat or Cinkel Spars and Where to Find Parts

Isomat or Cinkel Spars and Where to Find Parts 2 Years, 2 Months ago
This topic recurs on the list-serv from time to time. Here is a synopsis from a recent exchange.

Frank, on Caio, the last Brewer 44 built, needs mast manufacture information.

Patrick, on Gaia, a Whitby 42 suggests Rig Rite, a shop that sells a wide variety of rigging, including Isomat parts.

(Greg - Note that an assumption made that Whitbys and Brewers use Isomat parts. There are parts that are interchangeable, and parts that are not. In addition, Caio is a Brewer 44. It could have a mast made by several companies.)

Richard Mezzanotti responds, I have Brewer 44 hull # 304. My mast is a Hood ( 59' 5" ) double spreader with fixed running backs. I have had very good luck with all unusual rigging parts from Bay Sailing in Fall River, MA. He can even manufacture custom items if you really need them....Ask for Frank Culinary.

Bill Eilers, aboard Blue Prince: I have a Ft Myers Brewer 12.8 and it has an Isomat mast. I have had good luck ordering parts from www.rigrite.com. Check it out. They have lots of pictures of parts and I am sure you can find out if you have an Isomat mast and whatever parts you need.

Greg Temple, on my Destiny: Doug Stephenson told me the spars for later Whitbys were manufactured by Cinkel who are no longer in business. I don't know what Ft. Myers used, especially near the end
of their production. On late manufacture Whitbys, they are VERY SIMILAR to Isomat, but be aware that they are different in minor ways. For instance, the mast head weldment does not accomodate an Isomat spinnaker halyard fitting. It is different than Isomat.

There are two links to Rigrite on WBS. One is a link under Resources -> Riggers: http://whitbybrewersailboats.com/resource-list#R

The other is an article with mast cross sections from Isomat:
whitbybrewersailboats.com/maintenance-re...-and-additions/46-r\

The articles are easily found by scrolling the home page down, locating the "SEARCH" box and entering any of the following words: boom, mast, spreader, Isomat or Cinkel. Any of the words return the articles.
Just be sure to triple check the parts.

Feel free to add any more information to this thread......
